For our next book club discussion, we have a very different book. The High House, Jessie Greengrass's easy-to-read story of an apocalyptic flood that ends most life on earth, has reached a wide audience and was short-listed for the Costa Prize.  But, as the Guardian says, 'The question with all cli-fi is what the reader should actually do with the warnings it aims to deliver'. 

Other questions to consider as you read The High House:
-- Is an accessible and fast-moving story still valid if it's not always scientifically accurate?
-- What role does storytelling play in communication about the climate and ecological emergency?
-- How do you feel about the characters?
-- What is their approach to survival? 
-- Does the novel have a message and if so, how might readers react?
