Dirk Campbell will talk about global economics and the stranglehold imposed on the global south by the institutions of the global north. Dirk is a composer, multi-instrumentalist and member of Extinction Rebellion. He helped set up local renewable energy company, Ovesco.

Melani Gunathilaka will talk about how international debt has increased the indebtedness of Sri Lanka; and how development projects in the post-British colonial context have exacerbated environmental issues and affected the local economy. Melani is a climate and political activist from Sri Lanka, and a co-founder of Climate Action Now Sri Lanka. She has a strong commitment to addressing the intertwined crises of climate change and social inequality.

Dirk's talk will start promptly at 6pm, with Melani joining live from Sri Lanka. Q&A will follow and the event will end at 7.30.

The talk is free but please register if you're planning to come. All welcome!
